Even with the arrival of the Realme 5 Pro, there are still plenty of Realme 3 Pro software update activities doing rounds. Just so you know, this same device goes by the name Realme X Lite back in its home country of China.

Not long ago, reports emerged that the Oppo-owned sub-brand is working on a new custom skin that will power Realme smartphones going forward instead of the parent company’s ColorOS skin.

Dubbed Project X, the alleged RealmeOS is said to be testing on the Realme 3 Pro as I write this. In fact, beta testers are already welcome to try the new software, although the first time we heard about Project X was back in July 2019.

Prior to Project X stories, the Realme 3 Pro was the only device from the company to be recruited into the early Android Q beta program back in May. While this was quite a statement from the small company, things didn’t turn out as expected.

Not long ago, Realme revealed that there won’t be any other update to the current Android Q beta build for the Realme 3 Pro. Instead, those who had switched to the Q beta are advised to roll back to a stable version of Android Pie as they wait for the stable Android 10 to arrive.

While all this was happening, the regular users of the Realme 3 Pro were also being taken care of. The company has been on point with monthly security patches for the device, with the most recent for Indian variants tagging along August security patch level.

As of this writing, the Chinese variant of this device – the Realme X Lite – is now receiving a new Android security patch level dated September 5, 2019. The update is available over the air as version RMX1851_11_A.08_190905.

The changelog is still in Chinese and if you have any experience with Google Translate, you’ll know how bad the English version can get. Even so, we can tell that the upcoming Realme 3 Pro September update will add the option to swipe left/right to dismiss a notification in the shade.

The update also adds a new battery usage page, a holiday alarm clock function, status bar notification prompt mode, and a bunch of new languages to the Realme X Lite – additions we expect on the Realme 3 Pro when the update arrives in India.

Sure, there are also plenty of performance improvements and bug fixes included in this update, but we should get a clear sight of these changes once the rollout expands outside China.
