This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on Mar 30) follows:
We’re just about to start the second quarter of the year and still, there are devices that are just now getting updated to Android 10. This, despite Android 10 having been launched way back in September 2019.
This comes at a time when we have already seen a couple of builds for the next version of Android, Android 11. Granted, these are still very early builds of the Operating system and are only meant for developers.
Realme has been pretty steadfast in rolling out Android updates to its devices. Most notably, More Realme devices have been updated to support VoWiFi with even more on the way.
Maintaining the same pace of development, Realme seems to be ahead of the curve in terms of the Development of Android 11. As we have mentioned, there’s no stable build of Android 11 to build skins on but already, Realme is reportedly working on its new skin, Realme UI 2.0
While responding to a user suggestion Francis Wang, Realme India CMO said:
“There are many features under development for realme Ui 2.0.” – which means the Realme Ui 2.0 is already being worked on.
To see a Chinese OEM with, let’s face it, one of the heaviest skinned versions of Android, already planning ahead and working on the next version of Android is impressive to say the least.
Realme also recently released a list of its devices that according to the company, are eligible for an update to Android 11.
This is a very early list and if history is anything to go by, this list will change as we approach the launch of the new build of Android. Some devices will be added while others will be dropped for various reasons.
Gone are the days when Android phones would get a lot of backlash for not being as up-to-date as their iOS counterparts. Today, more and more devices get updated to the latest Android security patch level on time.
This was almost unheard of just a short few years ago. Android has matured as an ecosystem. there’s still a lot to be worked on, especially the support period for new devices, flagships, and mid-range devices alike.
