In the decade old processor war between Intel and AMD, both companies realized that boosting the clock speed of a single core CPU was not an optimal choice. Rather it would be better to invest look to multicore design – a decision behind the success of portable computing, such as smartphones.
Talking about smartphones, we also experience the transition from a single camera sensor with tons of pixels to an array of cameras.
Manufacturers nowadays embrace the distinct characteristics of individual camera modules, such as one of ultrawide, another for depth sensing and so on. Software based processing is also taking a major role.
There was a recent boom of 48 MP sensor in smartphone industry, which is gradually phasing away – thanks to Samsung. The Korean tech giant is now mass producing the ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, which is capable of producing 64 MP pictures!
Realme was the first Android OEM to adopt the tech. They shared a bunch of photo samples taken using an WIP phone sporting the 64 MP sensor. The phone allegedly features a quad rear camera setup and is soon to be launch in India, as per Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth.
Xiaomi/Redmi also teased the 64 MP sensor a few days ago. Nonetheless, Realme devoted enormous effort to enhance the software post-processing part of their yet-to-be-named phone with the 64 MP camera.
Well, it seems that they are now confident enough to demonstrate their work in front of the world.
As you can see, the official Twitter handle of the OEM shared an announcement regarding their upcoming Camera Innovation Event. The occasion is going to take place at Delhi on August 8 (Thursday in next week).
Madhav Sheth further retweeted the statement, and confirmed the arrival of a new phone boasting the quad sensor tech with the fascinating 64 MP primary camera. Do you think they are talking about a ‘Pro’ variant of Realme X? Or will it be a completely new lineup?
It is worth mentioning that Realme is conducting a survey regarding the presence of Galaxy S10-esque one or more punch holes in the display of their future phone(s).
At this moment, it is highly unlikely but we might see at least a variation of the quad camera phone with display hole in near future.
Let’s wait till August 8 to get the answers of the aforementioned questions. ?
