Regular updates were once Android’s Achilles’ heel. Probably a shortcoming due to just how vast and fragmented the ecosystem is. I mean, try maintaining thousands of individual makes and models from hundreds of OEMs all across the globe.
But all that seems to have changed for the most part. Many OEMs are able to push out bug fixes and the rather unassuming, yet critical monthly security patches.
The Realme 5 by Oppo’s sub-brand Realme was launched in August 2019. It packed rather modest specs for 2019; it was powered by Octa-core (2 GHz, Quad-core, Kryo 260 + 1.8 GHz, Quad-core, Kryo 260) processor. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Chipset. It has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage.
As more and more phone makers continue to push out the November security patch to their devices, Realme is doing the same. Today, the company is rolling out the November update to the Realme 5.

Realme says that the OTA will be randomly pushed out to a limited number of users today. They will then have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs. If no critical bugs are found, the full rollout will be completed in the upcoming days.

Realme 2 Pro
Also getting updated to the November Android Security patch level is the Realme 2 Pro. First released way back in October 2018, this device still packs a lot, even for 2019. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 and comes with a Full HD+ display.
Realme 2 Pro
It was launched with Android 8.1 (Oreo) but was later updated to Android 9.0 (Pie). There are also plans to upgrade it to Android 10.0. Realme 2 Pro users will soon start getting notified of the availability of the November Security Update.
Like with the Realme 5 OTA, this update will be staged. This will allow users to ‘test-the-waters’ and allow Realme to pull the plug easily should there be any critical bugs with the update.
Along with the Android security patch update, the Realme 2 gets more features. Bundled in with the update is a system-wide dark mode and a Redesigned notification center style.

Realme was one of the first companies that announced its roadmap for rolling out Android 10 to its devices.
Cut to now, Realme has pushed the latest security and enhancements updates for a lot of its smartphones and the latest one to receive the bugfix update is the Realme 5.
Both these devices have been consistent in getting timely monthly security patches. Prior to this update, the Realme 5 stands at the October patch. This is the update that, among other things, brought the wide-angle video recording capability.
The Realme 2 Pro, which expects an update to Android 10 in Q3 of 2020 currently spots the September Security Patch. While this is by no means an old device, it is clearly approaching the end of its cycle.
