During the episode 6 of #AskMadhav, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth promised May OTA for Realme 3 Pro devices to be pushed in the month of May itself. We’re nearing the mid of June and the phone still awaits the arrival of the last month’s security patch.
However, the older Realme 3 phones have now started receiving the May update.
For a quick refresher, Realme 3 is the company’s this year’s phone – which unlike Realme 3 Pro that is powered by Snapdragon 710 SoC – is powered by Helio P60 chipset. The device is shipped with Android 9.0 Pie layered with Color OS 6 out of the box.
As for the currently rolling out May security patch, the update started rolling out on May 28, and a quick look at Twitter conveys that some Realme 3 users got hands on the update a few days back Presumably a soak test.
But now the May patch i.e RMX1821EX_11.A.16 update for Realme 3, has apparently started rolling out more widely. The key highlights of the update apart from the new security patch are the addition of apps like Theme Store, App Market, Community app.
Even Lock Screen Magazine will be available on the units after installing the update. Users can enable it by heading to Settings → Look for Home Screen & Lock Screen Magazine → Lock Screen Magazine → Enable it.
In addition, the announcement page states as Realme 3 users have been complaining about poor display quality, it has been worked on and fixed in this update. Users will also get to see an updated default theme and a new default wallpaper.
