This story is being continuously updated….new updates are being added at the bottom…..
Oppo subsidiary Realme’s last year’s Realme 2 Pro devices originally shipped with with Android Oreo 8.1 layered with ColorOS 5.2. While Realme 2 Pro users were gawking Android Pie-based ColorOS 6’s arrival on their units, the update landed on a rough note and crushed the user excitement.
ColorOS 6 update bearing build number RMX1801EX_11.A.20 brought along the May security patch and camera support for Chroma Boost mode and HAL3 (via developers option). Apps like Theme Store, App market and Game Center were also added.
However, right after the update got live, those who installed it manually reported of their devices stuck in bootloop. In no time, the Chinese OEM got hold of the situation and pulled the update to fix things up. The company even shared workarounds to bring the devices stuck in bootloops back to life.
The way Realme handled the bootloops situation is appreciable, but in between all this time, Realme 2 Pro users never stopped inquiring about when is the ColorOS 6 update finally going to land on their units. Well the company has finally spoken up about this.
Realme is now pushing the ColorOS 6 update again. The confirmation about ColorOS 6/Android Pie’s advent on Realme 2 Pro came from Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth on Twitter some time back.
But, there’s a catch.
The official update announcement page at Realme Community states, users will have to first signup for receiving the update by filling a form. The OTA will first be pushed only to user who signup for ColorOS 6.
Following the first wave, there will be a wider rollout covering rest of the Realme 2 Pro devices. This entire process will take about two weeks. That means, you’ll have to wait for few more weeks unless you signup for receiving the update first. Here’s how the official announcement words this:
We will start pushing out the OTA to the users who have signed up via the form first, and then issue the firmware to all users who have not registered. The whole rollout process will take up to 2 weeks approximately (there are maaaaany realme 2 Pro fans out there!), so please do not get impatient if you do not receive the OTA as soon as you sign up.
Not to miss, this update is rolling out for devices that haven’t received ColorOS 6 yet.
Those who updated manually when the update was first released and got stuck in bootloops, must already be running the latest patch after resolving the bootloops issue with company suggested workarounds. So they need not apply again.
Those of you who wish to grab the ColorOS 6/Android Pie update first, fill up the form and register yourself. Else, wait for about two weeks for the OTA to land on your phone.
Here’s what the official announcement page reads in case you wish to take a look:
