Realme 2 Pro, as most Realme fans may already know, is the predecessor of Realme 3 Pro (which is the Chinese company’s latest mid-ranger budget device). It’s a 2018 smartphone which shipped with Android 8.1 Oreo layered with ColorOS 5.2 out of the box.

Recently, the much anticipated ColorOS 6.0 update was pushed to the phone surprisingly before time.

But things didn’t work quiet well. Instead, the update triggered bootlooping issues on Realme 2 Pro devices on which the update was flashed manually. However, soon after the matter caught heat, in no time Realme came up with an improved version of ColorOS 6 for Realme 2 Pro.

The followup update fixed bootloops and bumped the version to RMX1801EX_11.A.21. But a quick look at micro-blogging site Twitter reveals not all users have received this subsequent patch yet. Even the announcement stated the update will initially be pushed only to those who register for it.

We will start pushing out the OTA to the users who have signed up via the form first, and then issue the firmware to all users who have not registered. The whole rollout process will take up to 2 weeks approximately (there are maaaaany realme 2 Pro fans out there!), so please do not get impatient if you do not receive the OTA as soon as you sign up.

While the update is yet to make to all devices, there is a different issue that’s being chimed by Realme 2 Pro users who have already received the patch. Face unlock is acting lazy and taking more time than it should. Reports regarding this can be seen posted across Twitter and Realme Community.

Going by reports, face unlock now takes 3-5 second to unlock the unit. Here are a couple of recent complaints for you to take a quick glance at:

While reports continue proliferating, we haven’t yet been able to locate an official word on the matter from the company. Here’s hoping the OEM looks into the matter before Android Pie ColorOS 6 lands on rest of the Realme 2 Pro units and the problem begins troubling more users.

Rest assured, we are keeping a close watch on the matter and will update the story as and when any new development catches our sight. In the meantime, if you are facing the delayed face unlock glitch after installing ColorOS 6, drop a comment and let is know.

NOTE: BTW, the OEM has started the beta enrollment for Realme 2 Pro’s non-pro kin Realme 2 phones. Those of you who own a Realme 2 can join beta testing and help Realme team iron out the bugs and issue so they don’t make way to the stable update.
