In addition to offering great value for money, the other major appeal of Realme smartphones is the frequent software updates from the company despite not having a known software update policy.
Unlike Google, Samsung and a few other smartphone vendors, Realme doesn’t have a properly outlined software update policy for its devices.
We don’t know how many major OS upgrades Realme guarantees its devices. It is also unclear which devices receive monthly security patches and for how long.
But what is vivid is that Realme devices receive software updates quite frequently, including the oldest of them all, the Realme 1 and even the Realme U1. Both devices have recently picked up Pie-based March security patches with a fix for VoWiFi registration (2G/3G) issue.
Sure, it’s good and all that Realme 1 and Realme U1 are receiving new updates regularly, but what owners of the devices are more interested to know is when the company will bring the Realme UI update based on Android 10 OS to the duo.
Realme has on a couple or so occasions suggested that it provides two major OS upgrades. Matter of fact, this is guaranteed for devices in the Realme X series, but we cannot say the same for other Realme handsets.
On the brighter side, the fact that the Realme 2 Pro is getting two major OS upgrades has given some Realme 1 and Realme U1 the energy they needed to ask questions about the availability of the second major OS upgrade for their devices.
Looking at the official roadmap (image above), there is no mention of Realme 1 and Realme U1 Realme UI update availability, which explains why the Realme community forum is flooded with questions of when these two will receive the Android 10-based firmware.
will we get the realme os or realme ui on older devices such as realme u1…or atleast can we get some features of realme ui on next update…. waiting for your response..

#AskMadhav…. Realme u1 is not getting realme ui. Then atleast give color os 7 updates. It’s just one year old phone. Your competitors redmi is giving ui updates for more than four years old phones.

Realme U1 owners have been reduced to begging for attention from the company in regards to the availability of the new Realme UI update, but no official response so far.
The story is pretty much the same coming from the Realme 1 camp. Similar to the in-demand Realme U1 Realme UI update, the update to Android 10 for Realme 1 owners would be the second major OS upgrade for the device.
But if the response to the statement above is anything to go by, chances are the Realme 1 – and probably the Realme U1 too – won’t receive the updates to Android 10. Sure, we’ll stick around for an official statement from Realme and update this story, but I wouldn’t get my hopes too high.
