PUBG missing 60 FPS after latest update on Xbox Series S, issue gets acknowledged

There is no denying that PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) has kickstarted a battle royale revolution with several new titles from big players like Activision now also gaining popularity.

Its gameplay is rather simple to understand – up to 100 players skydive into an island, hunt for gear, and race against a shrinking circle while killing opponents until just a single player/team survives. The difficult bit is mastery.

The game was originally released for the older Xbox One series but recently also made it to Xbox Series S and X. It was originally capped at 30 FPS on Xbox Series S but has since been updated with 60 FPS support.

However, an issue forcibly reverts PUBG back to 30 FPS, down from fluid 60 FPS, on the Xbox Series S. This seems to have begun following an Xbox system update. Several users have also blamed a recent game update.

Today i turned the console to play PUBG and noticed it was 30fps, i looked for the last system update and it was 15 min ago. On the sytem config. TV/Video Options there is no way anymore to choose refresh rate (console system config) I think the problem is on the console.

Anyone not having 60fps anymore on Series S? Booted it up after a while but it’s a locked 30fps for me now, but I am certain it was 60fps before? All other games are fine it’s just PUBG. Should there still be a performance toggle in the graphical settings?

Whatever the cause, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Support on Twitter has now issued an acknowledgment about the missing 60 FPS support on PUBG on Xbox Series S.

The statement implies that the matter is currently being investigated and that additional announcements will be made soon.

An ETA for a fix wasn’t given out since the investigation is still in its early stages, but we should be seeing a patch to the game soon. If not, then maybe the next major update will be bringing a fix.

In the meantime, you can try one user-suggested workaround that has helped a few. Head over to “manage game” and delete the saved files. If all goes well, you should hopefully see your FPS restored to 60 FPS.
