AI-powered chat is a new trend in the search engine market, where users can interact with intelligent chatbots that can answer questions, generate content, and provide suggestions.

Bing Chat is one of them. It’s an exciting and innovative feature by Microsoft that offers a new way to search and interact with AI.

Bing Chat

By combining the power of GPT-4 with the reliability of web results, Bing Chat can provide users with informative, creative, and engaging responses.

Since its launch, Bing Chat has received several updates including Conversation styles (Precise, Creative, and Balanced), and changes to chat behaviors among others.

However, it appears that Bing Chat users are dissatisfied with the latest changes, with some claiming that they are using it less and less (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

The reason ranges from results being less accurate, the reasoning and rationality missing, limited knowledge of topics, and the service is often unpredictable to the point of being unusable.

Users have recently complained that when chatting about development-related topics Bing finds something objectionable and suddenly terminates the conversation, causing significant inconvenience.

It’s like being cut off mid-sentence by a rude interrupter, and it’s not just annoying – it’s a major pain.

So, some are afraid of wasting their time and not getting to the answer or solution they need and hence have started interacting with other search engines or AI chatbots.

One more thing i noticed is it generates 3 times less words than it used to. Now most of the times it stops generating im the middle of the response and i have to reply with ‘please continue your response’ everytime it cuts off in the middle of a response. A query which bing used to answer in one response now takes three.

My experience wtih Bing AI has been abyssimal over the past few days. First it started lying and inventing web search result data, and now it is just providing summaries of web searches – not providing contextual interpretation, recommendations, options, suggestions based on my actual query.

Additionally, some users say that Bing Chat has been slow in responding to queries recently (1,2,3,4).

Bing Chat is allegedly taking longer than usual to answer simple questions like ‘What’s the weather in NYC’. Earlier the response used to be instantaneous but now it takes several seconds or even minutes.

In the case of complicated queries, a delay in response is permissible; however, Bing Chat should not take longer than a Web search, as this negates the purpose of the tool.

I don’t knw if anyone noticed it, from yesterday bing seems to be slower than ever. The time it takes to start generating a simple answer is around 30 sec to one minutes. In that time period i can easily get the answer from google or bing search twice and come back to bing to see it still searching the term.

A few users believe that because there is no transparency or clarification on what is causing this, it is difficult to trust that this service is worth continuing to use in comparison to others.

It’s still in beta, and developers are making changes, but as with everything in AI, things move fast, and the new restrictions placed on Bing are a major setback in comparison to the constantly improving models elsewhere.
