The Poco X2 is a pretty performant device with some really great specs but its virtues are overshadowed by a major deal-breaking problem that has been doing rounds for several months now.

Back in May, we highlighted how Poco X2 users complained about a range of camera-related issues like ‘Can’t connect to camera’ error message, freezes, and black screen when using the camera app.

While we suspected back then that unoptimized software and bugs in the camera app were to be blamed for the problems, recent developments point towards the possibility of it all in fact being hardware-related.

This is because affected users are reportedly told to get their motherboards replaced for over Rs.8500 ($100+) by service centers, which honestly is quite pointless considering you can grab a 2nd-hand Poco X2 for that amount of money.

Moreover, the lack of any bug-fixing update even after over 3 months for such a crucial bug further sucks up all hopes of the issue being software-related at all.

Now, Poco isn’t really oblivious to the ordeal. The company had last month issued a lenghty acknowledgment saying that the camera issues are being faced by less than 0.2% of the total Poco X2 userbase.

Along with that, a basic workaround of clearing the camera app data was given, which if fails, opens up the door for a visit to the service center.

Poco said that “service center executives have all the instructions and are well equipped” to get the Poco X2 camera working again.

However, fast forward to today, and the Poco India Support Twitter handle is still busy responding to aggrieved users affected by the camera problems.

As per several complaints, service centers are still demanding the previously quoted price for replacing the entire motherboard. And in other cases, they say that they have no official confirmation about the problem.

Poco X2 camera stopped working. While troubleshooting the steps you mentioned in your tweet, the phone switched off & it didn’t boot again. Took it to the service center & they quoted Rs. 8700 to change the motherboard.

Visited service center to repair. They told me that they didn’t got any reply or confirmation about this problem from poco support.

It could be possible that a free repair is limited to users whose devices are still under warranty.

After all, Poco hadn’t really specified in their statement if the repair would be free of cost for both under warranty and out of warranty Poco X2 units alike.

But considering the spread of the problem and the fact that no one but Poco is to be blamed for everything, Poco X2 users sure deserve a free redressal.

For now, we advise users to flash the service center executives the official statement posted by none other than Poco themselves, if they say that they’re unaware. Also, do continue giving feedback through the app for the same to make your voice heard.
