Pocophone F1 (more popularly called the Poco F1) was declared dead in terms of production with the advent of Poco X2. However, the company promised the device will continue to get regular updates. Does that mean it’ll get Android 11 (Android R) as well?

Before you even raise the bars of your hopes, well that would mean expecting too much, considering many are still struggling to get hands-on the current Android 10/Android Q update – the second major OS update of the phone – as the rollout has been paused due to some bugs.

Here’s what Poco India said

But the just-released Poco X2 – that came with Android 10 layered with MIUI 11 out of the box – is, of course, eligible for Android 11/Android R and Android 12/Android S. And now, the company has officially given a word regarding the same. The good news came straight from the horse’s mouth.

C Manmohan, Poco India General Manager, took to Twitter sharing that Poco X2 will get the upcoming Android 11 update. When exactly? Well that isn’t known yet, considering as of now only the first developer preview of Android 11 was released and there’s a long way to go for the stable build to arrive.

As for Android 11 on Poco X2, here’s what Manmohan said:

Keeping the promise of making the best even better! Here’s the biggest announcement for all the #POCO fans. The recently-released #POCOX2 will be upgraded to @Android 11.

Poco India (on Twitter) has also confirmed the same.

So those of you who just bought the Poco X2 or plan to buy, rejoice that Android 11 has been guaranteed by the company. FYI the phone recently received its first update that fixed the camera PRO mode crashing, improved image processing, though the security patch wasn’t the latest.

What’s amazing is the phone’s kernel source code was available right on the day of launch. Anyway, let’s hope Poco manages to bring Android 11 to Poco X2 device soon after it gets available. For more Poco related news and stories, head here.
