POCO recently expanded its Poco-phone lineup with the launch of the POCO X2. The new mid-range smartphone from the Xiaomi spin-off packs some impressive specs and features at an attractive price point.
The device ships with a large 6.67-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, making it the first non-flagship smartphone to rock this display tech. On the inside, you get a speedy mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 730G allied to either 6GB or 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
On the back is a quad-lens camera with a 64MP main shooter supported by an 8MP unit and a pair of 2MP sensors. On the front, the dual punch hole hosts a pair of 20MP and 2MP lenses while keeping it alive is a decent 4,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0+.
The POCO X2 runs on the latest Android 10 out of the box and knowing how Xiaomi products are developer-friendly, the company is already making life for custom ROM developers even easier.
As of this writing, Xiaomi has published Android 10 kernel sources for the Redmi K30 on their Github page. If you are suddenly wondering where the Redmi K30 came from when the POCO X2 is our attention, well, the two are basically one and the same.

For those still in the dark, simply know that the POCO X2 is a rebranded Redmi K30 4G, which means they share the same kernel sources. This was also the case with respect to the POCO F1, Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi 8 UD, Mi MIX 2S, and Mi MIX 3, all of which have the same Snapdragon 845 SoC.
What also this means is that custom ROM developers have the go-ahead to begin doing their thing. To make things even better for the developer community, POCO X2 bootloader can be unlocked after just 72 hours (3 days) of waiting and not the usual 168 hours for Xiaomi devices.
At this rate, it will indeed be interesting to see what the developer community has in store for the Poco X2.
