The popularity of Xiaomi smartphones in the Android developer community is unrivaled. The company boasts one of the best aftermarket support in the Android world.
The Poco F1, popularly known as Pocophone F1 in markets outside India, is one of those Xiaomi devices enjoying vast custom ROM support.
Sure, the device is still receiving official MIUI updates, but for the adventurous, there is a lot going on in the developer community.
As of this writing, for instance, there is a working Android 11-based ReloadedOS custom ROM for the Poco F1. This came out after an Android 11 DP4 port and GSI popped up in May and March 2020, respectively.
But of course, we all know how instable early versions of custom ROMs can be. Now that Android 11 has been out for some time and undergone several refinements, custom ROMs built on newer versions are much more stable.
This is precisely what the latest Pixel Experience 11 ROM based on Android 11 brings to the Poco F1. However, like any other first release, the available ROM is still in beta and thus relatively unstable.
Even so, the popularity of the ROM has seen the beta version bag over 2,100 downloads following its November 28 release, at least at the time of this writing.
And having already installed the Pixel Experience 11 update on his Poco F1 handset, our own Clinton is quite satisfied with the performance of the Android 11-based beta ROM so far.
This is not to say the ROM is ready for daily use. In fact, the developer notes that HDR and Widevine L1 are broken at the moment, but that is what you expect with beta software.

With this ROM, your Poco F1 will essentially become a Pixel phone, boasting all the Pixel goodies such as the launcher, icons, wallpapers, fonts, and boot animation as well as all Google apps. No need to sideload GApps.
While there are rumors of official Poco F1 Android 11 update doing rounds, this is possibly wishful thinking from the Poco fan base. Of course, unless Poco has other ideas now that it has become independent.
For the newcomers, installing the Pixel Experience 11 ROM shouldn’t be a problem. But you’ll need an unlocked bootloader before anything else. Below are some screenshots of the new-look Poco F1 on Android 11.
Check out this XDA thread for a full installation guide and any other help you may need.
FYI, the developer also assures Poco F1 users that the Beta channel will get OTA updates and eventually the stable build, which will also continue receiving OTA updates.
