Oppo phones are preferred by camera lovers, but the Chinese vendor leaves the customers unsatisfied in terms of firmwaare updates. Majority of early launched Oppo devices skipped even the major Android OS updates, making OEM the least favorable brand for most of the tech enthusiasts.

In the current scenario, the OEM might have upgraded its software update management, but still, it doesn’t stand anywhere when compared to other major smartphone makers like Xiaomi and Huawei.

But they do give surprises. In a recent story, we highlighted the OEM has released the August Android security patch update to two of its mid-ranger – Oppo R17 Pro & R17. Right in time this time. And now, the company’s A-series mid-ranger – Oppo A5 is receiving the latest August update.

Recalling the Oppo A5 features, it was launched back in July 2018. The device left the factory with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, dual camera setup carrying 13MP & 2MP sensors, and Android Oreo 8.1 out-of-the-box.

As for the currently circulating update, it’s worth stressing that only the Chinese variants of Oppo A5 are receiving the new August security patch update. The Indian variants of the device however continue to sit with the June patch which the units received last month.

The latest update on the Chinese models of A5 weighs 1978 MB in size and bumps the version to V190724. Other than the new Android security patch, the update also brings in the ringtone customization application in the system.
