First of all, we are not getting free review units, so don’t expect some kind of ‘in-depth’ reviews of the OnePlus 7 series in this article. Rather we are going to deep dive into smaller tidbits that others may ignore. ?

TBH, the regular variant of OnePlus 7 should be called OnePlus 6TT (or 6T+), as the OEM truly wants to push the Pro model with all the innovative features with bells and whistles. OnePlus 7 is a typical improvement over last year’s OnePlus 6, but the differences between 6T and 7 are negligible.

As a matter of fact, the OnePlus 7 will not be sold officially in the US. T-Mobile will exclusively carry the OnePlus 7 Pro while the 8 GB RAM variant of OnePlus 6T received a permanent $30 price cut. The 6 GB RAM version is officially discontinued.

Elsewhere in the world, one can buy the not-so-special OnePlus 7 sometime in June. Beside the Midnight Gray color, a Red version will also be available in select markets. The available configurations and correspond pricing are as follows:

  • 6 GB / 128 GB: ₹32,999, £499, €559
  • 8 GB / 256 GB: ₹37,999, £549, €609

The 5G model is based on OnePlus 7 Pro, and will be exclusively sold via EE in the UK and Elisa in Finland for now.

Talking about the OnePlus 7 Pro, most of the hardware features are already known to us days before the release. In the official announcement post, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau reiterated them and put the official stamp on it.

The OnePlus 7 Pro features a curved edge-to-edge design and 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display, alongside with incredible clarity thanks to its QHD+ resolution. To top things off, the OnePlus 7 Pro also features HDR10 and HDR10+, which provides subtler gradients and richer details to videos that also support it.

OnePlus worked with a number of streaming providers to ensure the HDR10 and HDR10+ certifications. Paired with the 90 Hz display, the contents should look stunning on the phone.

The display on the OnePlus 7 Pro is such a huge breakthrough that it earns DisplayMate’s highest A+ rating, making it one of the very best smartphone displays on the market.

As promised earlier, DisplayMate has published their detailed review with the highest A+ rating.

Regarding device specific features, the Pro variant comes with soft controls which will trigger if you try to invoke the pop up camera repeatedly over a short time. OnePlus also opted for liquid cooling system to keep the internal components in good shape.

Equipped with a powerful Haptic Vibration, the OnePlus 7 Pro provides multiple levels of vibrational feedback and virtually zero delay for a more realistic experience. We’ve upgraded the cooling system on the OnePlus 7 Pro with liquid cooling to allow the device to remain cool even after prolonged and intensive use.

And yes, they actually revamped the Game mode after dropping tons of hints. OnePlus partnered with popular esports team FNATIC and brought ‘Fnactic mode’ in OxygenOS.

The Shenzhen based OEM also added Digital Wellbeing support in OxygenOS 9.5. We hope older OnePlus phones will get these software features in future OTA updates.

Call it a coincidence, but OnePlus 5/5T as well as OnePlus 6/6T are getting a fresh new OTA update on their Open Beta branch with May 2019 security patches. The version numbers of these new beta builds are as follows:

  • OnePlus 5/5T: Open Beta 32/30
  • OnePlus 6/6T: Open Beta 18/10
