Pushing your brand identity to every nook and corner is a challenging task, but the clever marketing-people are doing it everywhere. When it comes to the smartphone industry, they are now serious about the domain of mobile gaming and actively promoting their products.
Apart from releasing a bunch of ‘gaming’ phones, the companies often partner with professional gamers as well as esports organizers to attract the limelight. For example, OnePlus has a pretty long relationship with UK based esports team Fnatic.
I’m quoting Carl Pei (co-founder of OnePlus) here:
Gaming has always been central to OnePlus and working with Fnatic was, from the beginning, a natural partnership born from friendship: two like-minded organizations looking to push the boundaries.
We’re excited for this to be our first-ever global sponsorship in esports! Together, we’ll continue to change industries and attitudes, through a joint passion to Never Settle.
As a matter of fact, OnePlus revamped the integrated game mode in OxygenOS and renamed it as ‘Fnatic mode’. Currently the feature is available on OnePlus 7 series, and the OEM promised to backport it to older OnePlus phones (already available via beta channel).
OnePlus also teamed up with Hatch and organized the first ever 5G esports event in collaboration with Finnish wireless carrier Alisa. Moreover, they actually started an initiative back in April to form their official gaming group in China.
Now OnePlus’ Manu J. has started an interesting survey, which is entirely centered around mobile gaming. To be precise, it’s all about evaluating/beta testing mobile games.
Survey time again , a more in-depth survey for gamers! Are you someone who can’t wait to get early access to new and upcoming games? Do you pre-register and eagerly wait for the next best mobile game to drop? If that’s the case, this survey might be for you, so we would like to invite you to participate and share your insights.

PiunikaWeb readers should remember that Realme (which is a distant cousin of OnePlus) also started a similar survey about mobile gaming as well as early beta testing some days ago.
Interested users should visit this link to take part in the survey. On the other hand, OnePlus China posted another thread about their official gaming group recruitment, but this time intended for OnePlus 7/7 Pro users only.
Call it a coincidence, but asking about mobile gaming addiction, previous experience about public beta testing, bug reporting – all these are indicating that OnePlus is planning to launch something new.
Is it a special edition of OnePlus Pro based on a popular game? Will they preinstall one or more games in OxygenOS? Are OnePlus owners going to get the opportunity to beta test a particular game in collaboration with Fnatic? Only time will tell.
PiunikaWeb is a unique initiative that mainly focuses on investigative journalism. This means we do a lot of hard work to come up with news stories that are either ‘exclusive,’ ‘breaking,’ or ‘curated’ in nature. Perhaps that’s the reason our work has been picked by the likes of Forbes, Foxnews, Gizmodo, TechCrunch, Engadget, The Verge, Macrumors, and more. Do take a tour of our website to get a feel of our work. And if you like what we do, stay connected with us on Twitter (@PiunikaWeb) and other social media channels to receive timely updates on stories we publish.
