It is not uncommon to have OEMs publish their apps on the Play Store. In fact, this is almost becoming the norm for many phone makers as it holds a few key benefits.
First, it means that phone-makers don’t have to build their own app stores to only distribute their apps (looking at you Samsung). Also, this is faster and easier than using major OS updates to update system apps that probably need frequent updates.
OnePlus has been one of the OEMs that has been outright about publishing its apps on the Play Store, allowing OnePlus device owners to update their OnePlus apps from the Play Store.
However, and as expected, not all OnePlus apps are available on the Play Store and even fewer of those are available for non-OnePlus devices. Case in point, the OnePlus Clock app.
OnePlus is souping up the Android 11 OnePlus Clock app for devices running HydrogenOS 11 and adding a bunch of features such as a World Clock weather function, finer animations, and more.
However, the most interesting bit about this announcement is the fact that these changes are set to trickle down to other OnePlus devices including the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and the OnePlus 8T.
“OnePlus Clock” app now supports OnePlus 7/7 Pro/7T/7T Pro/8/8 Pro/8T Android 11 version upgrade in OnePlus store.

While this applies to users of these devices in China, we know that HydrogenOS changes are often followed by similar OxygenOS 11 updates. This new OnePlus Clock app being published on the OnePlus Store means we should see the same for the Play Store.
To recall, we have seen OnePlus pushing out Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 update to the OnePlus 7 series and OnePlus 8 last year.
