New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 10, 2020) follows:

OnePlus has usually been one of the first OEMs to push a new stable Android version upgrade for its devices soon after Google releases it for its Pixel lineup.

However, this year, it seems Xiaomi beat them to the punch since the OEM began rolling out the stable Android 11 update for its Mi 10 series in China.

Therefore, it begs the question — is this one step forward, two steps backward for OnePlus? Prior to this, the OEM was one-upped only by ‘Essential’ which is not surprising since the company only launched one phone.

But that does not mean OnePlus is slacking in the updates department. Further, new developments suggest that the company has begun rolling out the stable OxygenOS 11 update.

Individuals are taking to Facebook and OnePlus Community forums to report that they have started receiving the stable OxygenOS 11 update on their OnePlus 8 series devices.

The update is live as OxygenOS 11.IN11DA and rolling out on handsets at the time of writing. We have shared a couple of screenshots of the update below:

As you can see from the screenshots above, the update appears to be rolling out for users at random. At present, OnePlus has not made an official statement on the rollout yet.

However, a OnePlus mod has commented on a user’s post on the community forum hinting towards an official announcement soon.

Like we mentioned above, the new update is only live for users in India at the moment. But given past update trends from the company, it’s likely that the stable OxygenOS 11 update will go live in other regions soon.

This new update brings a bunch of new features and improvements over OxygenOS 10. To know more about the new features in OxygenOS 11, you can head here.
