OnePlus was once known for its timely and quality software updates. However, that has changed over the time and the OEM seems to have lost its edge.
Users of OnePlus flagship devices from the OnePlus 8, 7, and 7T series have been struggling with the update to Android 11-based OxygenOS 11.
Also, OnePlus 7 and 7T series users are still waiting for features like Insight and Canvas AOD. On the other hand, OnePlus has now switched over to ColorOS in China.
This is part of OnePlus’ integration with Oppo which the OEM CEO, Pete Lau, has recently shed some more light on.
As per Pete Lau, OnePlus is now moving towards a deeper integration with Oppo. This is being done in order to improve the OEM’s productivity.
Moreover, this decision has been made after noticing a positive impact from the collaboration of the two OEMs, says OnePlus CEO.
Now, OnePlus is relying on the said deeper integration with Oppo to deliver faster and better software updates in the future.
If Pete Lau’s words are anything to go by, the update to OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12 might arrive sooner for eligible OnePlus devices.
While the OnePlus CEO has not shed much light on the specifics of OxygenOS 12 (Android 12), he believes that this teaming up with Oppo might help OnePlus to regain its edge in the software domain.
The said change can be exploited to make a positive impact on the OEM’s future software update strategy and overall productivity.
However, nothing is certain and only time will tell how OnePlus and Oppo take this feat forward.
That said, we will report back with more details as and when we get new information to share so stay tuned.
