Smartphone manufacturers across the globe, especially in China, have taken a toll, all due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. Most of the updates were lagging behind scheduled dates due to this issue.
However, OnePlus, like the majority of the other Chinese OEMs, is trying its best to push out updates. And recently the OnePlus 7T (HydrogenOS) grabbed the February 2020 security patch in China.
Soon, the global variant running OxygenOS also started receiving the Open Beta 1 updates on the OnePlus 7T.
The update not only bumped the security level to February 2020, but it also tagged along with new features like Live Caption, optimized RAM performance, enhanced single and double-tap performance, among others.
However, this Open Beta 1 brought in some issues for the users. Reportedly, those who installed this Open Beta 1 update on their OnePlus 7T were not able to use the cloud services as well as the Red Cable club.
One user posted a screenshot and brought this issue to light. Notably, after this issue came to the picture, the developers of Oxygen Updater wrote a full-fledged article on this issue.
For those who own OnePlus devices might be familiar with the Oxygen updater app that lets you update your OnePlus device way faster by grabbing the update directly from the server instead of waiting for the OTA.
As per the notification pushed by the Oxygen Updater app, during the investigation, it was found that the build letter on the Indian support site was different (instead of Y it was W).
Moreover, the package file was 300 MB smaller, where the Y build had India Specific Feature whereas the W build hadn’t despite being larger in size than the Y build.
Taking the investigation further, a look at the country-specific websites revealed that the MD5 checksum was different on the relevant zip files.
What went wrong is that instead of linking a single global ZIP file like OnePlus usually used to provide for the Open Beta updates, the OEM accidentally linked the EU update file.
This has affected all the users who have installed this update, especially the Indian users who have now lost some of the features included with the stable releases.

After a considerable amount of delay, OnePlus finally came out and acknowledged this issue. In fact, Manu J. who happens to be the Global Product Operations Manager of OnePlus shared the links of the correct builds.
Users who have installed the incorrect ROM build on their OnePlus 7T, need to take a complete backup of their devices and install the MP build then download the Open Beta 1 build respective to your region in order to get the correct build.
