New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 13, 2019) follows:

OnePlus has reached a place in the industry that they don’t need an introduction. By bringing flagship chipsets into midrange devices, the Shenzhen-based OEM captured the attention of gadget enthusiasts.

They started off with OnePlus One, which was available from $299. With each iteration, the pricing increased. OnePlus 7 Pro that came out in May this year bears a price tag of $669 (for the base variant). But, they also have a cheaper non-pro version too.

Let’s rewind time and go back to May last year. OnePlus 6 hit the market, followed by 6T in November. You know they have two global firmware update channels- Open Beta and stable. The former gets upgraded first with a few bugs before the latter.

Android 10 for OnePlus 6/6T went live as OxygenOS 10 Open Beta on 19 October. We already warned the users of a handful of issues present on the build. In the beginning of November, the stable version came out.

Bugs pertaining to OnePlus 6’s fingerprint module delayed the update a bit. However, the package surfaced online in three days. We thought all the bugs present on the Open Beta disappeared from the public build. But, no!

OnePlus 6T is having a fingerprint animation glitch after the update. Moreover, many report that Digital Wellbeing is missing from their units. Though the first one is not a serious bug, the second seems to have affected a number of users who want to explore smartphone minimalism.

Another annoying bug is the absence of ‘hide-notch’ feature. And guess what! Two weeks after the release, numerous consumers are yet to receive Android 10 stable update. You can see the complaints from them on the official forum under the latest overhaul announcement.

Taking these issues into consideration, we think the brand has delayed the update so that they can release a bug-free version later. In case you have updated to Android 10 and you want to hide the notch, we have got a workaround from the forum.

1. Download an app from the Play Store called Activity Launcher. Alternatively, if you are using Nova Launcher, long press an empty space in your home screen, select Widgets and then Activities, which is under the Nova Launcher heading.
2. Open the app or the widget and scroll down until you find the Settings option.
3. Tap on the Settings option and search for Notch display.
4. Long press the Notch display option and VOILA! You will now have the option to select how the notch area is displayed.

To recall, the Chinese vendor had paused Android 10 stable update and re-released it as OxygenOS 10.0.1 for OnePlus 7/7 Pro. Who knows! Maybe, they are planning to do the same with OnePlus 6/6T. No matter what happens, we will keep you posted.

The update still hasn’t rolled out globally. The team is working on a new build with more issue fixing, and they’ll release it once it’s ready (from partially to globally). Your patience is much appreciated.
