OnePlus 5/5T latest update breaks call hang up process, workaround inside

OnePlus recently rolled out a new software update to both OnePlus 5 and the 5T as OxygenOS 9.0.10. The update came with a new December 2019 security patch, improved system stability, and general bug fixes.

I can imagine how bad owners of the two phones wanted this update to bring Android 10, but OnePlus was pretty much clear from the onset that it won’t be in any hurry to bring OxygenOS 10 to the 5 and 5T.

Matter of fact, the company expects to bring Android 10 to the duo in Q2 2020, so yeah, the wait is still on. This will be the third and final major OS upgrade for OnePlus 5 and 5T, the second pair from the company to achieve this feat after OnePlus 3 and 3T.

Until then, OnePlus may have to roll out a bug-fixing update to address an issue discovered in the latest OxygenOS 9.0.10. Multiple owners of the two devices say the caller interface persists on the screen after ending a call.

After the recent 9.0.10 update on my OnePlus 5T, the call timer runs for about 5 seconds after the call is disconnected. The notification shows that a call is active for the same period whereas the call does disconnect on time.

I am using one plus 5 device, after updating new os i am facing tuis issue, even after disconnecting call, it remains in notification bar for few sec, which is very annoying.

After I disconnect a call (incoming and outgoing) I find a notification stating that the call is ongoing and while I click the notification the screen appears to the call screen blank with no name of the caller. Looks like a bug to me after the recent software update.

More affected OnePlus 5 and 5T owners are still flocking the official forums with reports of the same bug, suggesting that it’s quite widespread. But having been around since 2017, the two no longer receive monthly updates.

This means that the call hang up bug may be addressed in the next update, which may roll out in February or thereafter. But considering the growing number of affected units, OnePlus may be forced to roll out a hotfix sooner than later.

Until then, though, there is a workaround that seems to have fixed the bug for several affected OnePlus 5 and 5T owners. Apparently, it requires disabling the Noise cancellation option in the Call settings.
