With the launch of the OnePlus 7 series, the Chinese OEM has slowly started the transformation of their in-house Android skin. OxygenOS got tons of new features in the 9.5 branch, which came preinstalled with the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.
Some of these new functionalities are device dependent, such as the warning mechanism to prevent frequent selfie camera pop ups in the Pro variant. However, most of them are device agnostic, and are expected to come to older models as well.
As a matter of fact, we saw the first glimpses of UI redesign in the early-May Open Beta updates for OnePlus 5 (OB31)/5T (OB29) and OnePlus 6 (OB17)/6T (OB9). OnePlus team introduced a brand new system update app in these builds.
Aside from the revamped system update UI, the Chinese OEM also bundled features like overheating warning and quick reply in landscape mode. These can be seen in the OxygenOS 9.5 build for OnePlus 7 lineup as well.
To cater the Indian market segment to its full potential, OnePlus will bring a number of region specific features in the OxygenOS. An early example was actually shipped in these Open Beta builds for OnePlus 6 and 6T: a controversial junk file cleaner module.
While most of the OnePlus team members were involved in the launch parties of the OnePlus 7 series yesterday, the OxygenOS team silently pushed a new set of Open Beta builds.
Initially available on OnePlus 5 (Open Beta 32) and OnePlus 5T (Open Beta 30), these new OTA updates brought May 2019 security patches!
The changelog is rather minimal this time, as most of the resources should be engaged with the new branch (9.5) of OxygenOS. In our opinion, these updates are nothing but preparatory builds for transitioning.

OnePlus Switch
– More accurate remaining time for completion
The company introduced the OnePlus Switch app back in early 2018 as a seamless data migration utility between two phones. The recipient should be a OnePlus device as the app is tightly integrated with OxygenOS platform.
With the OnePlus Switch app, you can transfer all your files to your new OnePlus phone in a single, simple process. Install Switch app on your new phone and your previous device to start the migration process. From there, all you have to do is scan the QR code to pair and choose which items you want to transfer.
OnePlus later provided iOS support as well as smooth data backup and restore functionalities in the Switch app. Although the app is available on Google Play, OnePlus doesn’t bother to use the Play Store beta channel. Rather they provide new builds bundled with OxygenOS updates (like the above).
Is the new fix for OnePlus Switch app somehow related to the release of OnePlus 7 duos? Perhaps they are trying squash out known bugs as a huge chunk of consumers will eventually switch from old OnePlus phones.
On the other hand, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T users are now receiving the similar OTA update in the form of Open Beta 18 and Open Beta 10 respectively. The changelogs are identical, so it is safe to presume that no device specific changes are added here.
OnePlus staff member Manu J. seems to be pretty much occupied these days, thus he is unable to (publicly) post the official update announcement threads at the time of reporting.
Nevertheless, PiunikaWeb readers will get the direct download links of the full OTA update packages as usual. Credit goes to the Oxygen Updater community for their constant support in this game of update tracking.

The OB32/OB30 updates for OnePlus 5 and 5T weigh about 2 GB (~1850 MB) while the 6/6T builds are a bit small (~1650 MB). We are not talking about smaller incremental update zips here, as applying them could be complicated for end users.
