New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users became extremely impatient after the official announcement of closed beta tester recruitment for evaluating Android 9.0 Pie. Initially restricted to China, the recruitment process was later available for global users as well.
The Chinese team of OnePlus published the list of selected candidates quickly after the selection. However, the global team took a different approach – the selected candidates were notified internally.
Like most of the other tech companies, OnePlus made it a mandatory requirement for selected candidates to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for keeping things confidential. To prevent rampant leaks, the Chinese OEM allegedly incorporated some safety measures too.
Tracking the leakers via their IMEI numbers embedded in the screenshots is indeed a clever concept, but that can not stop over-enthusiastic people to leak them.
Believe it or not, the closed beta builds of Android 9.0 update for OnePlus 3 and 3T have been leaked already. Both Hydrogen OS (meant for China) and OxygenOS (meat for international users) beta builds are now floating around the internet.
We respect the testing policies of OnePlus, thus do not expect any kind of download links from us. The screenshots in this article are collected from various public forums and user groups. We take no responsibility or liability if someone locates them after reading this article and flash on their phones.
The current closed beta of OxygenOS (also known as OOS) was compiled on March 19, whereas the HydrogenOS build was compiled on March 21.
If you recall correctly, OnePlus Community Manager David Y. talked about a work-in-progress build before. That unreleased build was compiled on March 8.
OnePlus bumped the security patch level to March 2019 – a good sign indeed. They also bundled 3.18.120 kernel, which is slightly older than the newest version in 3.18 brach.
The Pie build reportedly comes with a system-wide Google Duo integration. The feature was hinted earlier by OxygenOS Product Manager Szymon Kopec.
This feature will roll out with stable OxygenOS 9.0.12 build on the OnePlus 6T, and OxygenOS 9.0.4 for OnePlus 6, 5 and 5T and eventually on OnePlus 3 and 3T with the Android Pie update.
The integrated gaming mode got the nice overhaul, much like OnePlus 5/5T or 6/6T.
The /system partition became almost full after installing the Pie build, which might be problematic in future.
The build is uncertified in terms of Google Play protect, which is a common case for beta builds.
Someone has shared the Geekbench score of OnePlus 3 on the leaked Pie build. The multi-score score seems quite good for a testing build.
Sadly, the current update did not bring Project Treble support. It was speculated by us earlier.
We have not checked whether the ‘secret’ /sdf6 partition is populated or not after this update, so do not lose your hope yet.
The Pie related goodies are present in a obvious manner. Take a look at the Recents screen:
Users can now enjoy the Adaptive battery.
Stock apps, like the Gallery or Phone are updated with new UI as well.
Developers have already extracted new blobs from the leaked builds. They will be useful to fix bugs and improve performance in existing Pie based custom ROMs.
I should remind the readers once again – sharing the closed beta is a direct violation of the agreement you made with OnePlus. The moderators of OnePlus forums are actively deleting posts and giving warning to the users, who are trying to leak about the these beta builds.
Everyone, please note that any Closed Beta builds are part of the closed beta and should not be shared publicly. If those that have shared them knowingly then you know that you are in breach of the NDA that you would have signed with OnePlus. Even stating you are in the Closed Beta Program is a breach of NDA.
Anymore links to closed beta builds shared here will be removed and users will be warned accordingly.

To the selected beta testers, stay sharp and find the anomalies in these builds. Your inputs will immensely valuable for squashing the bugs and delivering a stable final update.
