Since the last week of July, Realme is pushing a long array of incremental updates for their entire product portfolio. Be it the day-one OTA for Realme 3i or the bugfix update for Realme 3 Pro, most of them eventually received July security patches.
Being a cousin of Realme, OnePlus actually went one step further. They became the first OEM to publicly release a stable update for their current flagship with August security patches. That’s not the end, as older OnePlus phones are getting the same treatment as well.
Looks like the Shenzhen based company does not want to demoralize the owners of 3 years old OnePlus 3/3T too. In case you need a quick refresh, OnePlus gave June security patch in the form of OxygenOS 9.0.4 to 3/3T duo almost at the beginning of last month.
They even marked it as stable for long term, as the OEM published corresponding update packages in their official download portal. However, the dreaded data corruption issue while upgrading from Nougat/Oreo remained unresolved. Nonetheless, OxygenOS 9.0.5 is now here for both phones.
As you can see, the size of the incremental OTA from OxygenOS 9.0.4 is nearly 300 MB, albeit the list of changes is pretty minimal.
Manu J. from OnePlus announced the same in the official thread, which means features like Zen Mode or Fnatic gaming mode are still not available for OnePlus 3/3T owners.
Apart from that, minor issues like incoming call wakeup delay is reportedly improved in this build. The long-standing issue of battery drain is kind of debatable at this moment – mainly because of the age of the phones.
After playing around with the phone for few hours on 9.0.5, it seems incoming calls screen wake up delay is much better and maybe there’s less than one second delay for the screen to show the caller info.
also animations are smoother and generally the phone feels much responsive than 9.0.4
regarding battery usage, I didn’t have any problem on 9.0.4 and it’s too soon to say anything about it. same for heating.(Source)
