New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
The Android community does not expect a 3 years old phone to catch the headlines, but the OnePlus 3 series continues to do so. As a matter of fact, the original OnePlus 3 is currently the only phone powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC to get official Android 9.0 Pie update.
However, the journey of the final stable update was not smooth – even after a series of closed and public beta testing. Multiple users reported that the integrated Parallel Apps functionality was acting finicky, especially with WhatsApp.
May we know when these parallel apps issue will be fixed.. Whatsapp is keep on crashing after the Pie upgrade. If I am not wrong every OnePlus 3 & 3t user is effected after the Pie upgrade.
Tried to fix everything according to our community’s knowledge but nothing helped.

Besides this annoying bug, the data corruption issue on unlocked bootloader was not addressed in the OxygenOS 9.0.2 build. Several users who were running Oreo based OxygenOS 5.0.8 (or older) with an unlocked bootloader ended up with errors due to faulty migration.
Since last few days, OnePlus 3/3T users were unable to get the Pie update from the OnePlus update servers. A rumor about pulling back the build has been propagated, but the OEM put an end to it by rolling out a new update for the phone duo.
The build number of the new OTA update is 9.0.3. The changelog is absolutely same as that of 9.0.2, with the addition of the following point:
Bug fix
– Fixed issue of parallel WhatsApp can’t login
Well, there you go: no updated security patch (still on April 2019) and no new features. As readers can see, there is no reference of the data corruption issue as well.
Interestingly, we are unable to spot any incremental OTA zip (from 9.0.2 to 9.0.3) so far. If the build is all about the WhatsApp login issue with Parallel Apps, isn’t more feasible to deliver a smaller update?
The new build was compiled on May 25, so there might be a chance that OnePlus actually updated the underlying bootloader and firmware pack to address the data migration issue from Oreo. We decided to compare the files:

By comparing the MD5 hashes of the firmware files, it becomes obvious that OnePlus updated them between these two builds. However, reports from r/OnePlus Discord server confirmed that the data corruption glitch is still unpatched.
PiunikaWeb has already reached out to dianlujitao (LineageOS maintainer of OnePlus 3/3T and the first person to reliably analyse the bug) for comments regarding the situation. Meanwhile, the Oxygen Updater team decided to put the same statutory warning to notify the regular users about the issue.
