[March 12 update] OMG! Instagram now sends notification if you screenshot someone's pics

Back in June last year, it came to light that Instagram has stopped notifying users about their Stories being screenshotted.

While you can still screenshot Instagram stories of others without them being notified, there’s a new screenshot-related change that has been introduced by the company: Instagram has started notifying people when someone screenshots their pics in a private message or DM.

The change came as part of an update that was pushed out in the last week of December 2018, immediately after the ‘horizontal feed’ update that freaked out users before being rolled back.

So now, when you send a screenshot of someone’s photo, you’ll see a little windmill icon which indicates that person has received a notification regarding this. Here’s an example (via TheTab):

I’d like to re-iterate, Instagram still doesn’t send any notification for Story screenhots, but god knows now how long will it be that way. As Jonny Long of The Tab puts it:

Forget Trump, Brexit, climate change, this Instagram change poses the biggest threat to life on Earth as we know it
