Nokia used to be an uncrowned king of mobile phones years back. Then in 2008 came HTC Dream as the first ever Android phone. By the time people fell in love with Android, Nokia had to give in, sacrificing the popularity.

Disagreeing to get on board with the contemporary turnarounds, the company had to halt their smartphone business. Nonetheless, HMD decided to make use of the brand value and blew away the cobwebs with Nokia 6 in 2017.

HMD Global revived Nokia at a time when the market is crowded with Chinese smartphones. Their specs to price ratio attracted millions (and still does!). For the same reason, the all new Nokia couldn’t see groundbreaking sales figures.

However, over the course of two years, the OEM has made an impressive reputation among users in terms of software updates. They stick to two major OS updates and two years of security updates. What circulates now is the September patch of Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 2.2.

To recall, Nokia 8 Sirocco already received August patch. Apart from security improvements and stability enhancements, the 107 MB sized package didn’t bring anything new to the device. Well, it’s the same with September update too. You will not see any new features.

Going live in February 2018, Nokia 8 Sirocco is the oldest of the duo. Launched with Android 8.0 out of the box, it already received Android Pie over the air. Considering brand promise, we can expect one more major OS update. Cut to the patch, it weighs 89.6 MB in size. And, installing the package is not going to exhaust a major share of your data pack.

As for the Nokia 2.2’s security patch, the users need to ensure a steady internet connection because it’s 387 MB in size. Apart from the security patch, it bumps the firmware version to 1.630. The phone went official in June 2019 with Android 9.0 (Pie).
