Nokia and Android updates, they go hand in hand. Taking a step forward, recently, HMD Global expanded their security update roadmap for Nokia 3, 5, 6, and 8. All enlisted phones will continue to be safeguarded (in terms of firmware updates) by the OEM for another year.

You know Nokia releases Android One devices now. The fact that a device runs on Android One guarantees frequent updates? I don’t think so. Xiaomi, Motorola, and even Indian manufacturers like Micromax have history with Android One. And I am sure they hadn’t stuck to regular updates.

That clearly isn’t the case with HMD Global. Take for example, many Nokia devices have already got the latest August security update. The list includes Nokia 2, Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8.1, and Nokia 6.1. And now, we’ve spotted a new one, which is Nokia 8.

Came out in September 2017, Nokia 8 features a 5.3-inch full HD+ display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. HMD Global started shipping the device with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. However, one could seamlessly upgrade to Android 9.0 Pie.

The under-the-hood specs include 2017’s flagship chipset Snapdragon 835, Adreno 540, 4 or 6 GB RAM, and 64/ 128 GB storage. On the optics-front, Nokia 8 has a dual rear setup housing two 13 MP sensors with different apertures, powered by ZEISS. Up front, it sports a 13 MP selfie camera.

As for the currently circulating August security patch, the package weighs 86 MB in size. In case you are anticipating to have something new to refresh your phone, you will have to sit back. It just includes patches dated August. The changelog says:

Users have confirmed on the official Nokia forum that the update is available in regions like Portugal, India, Germany, UK, and Philippines. Chances are the update is globally out now. You can check system settings to grab yours, or sit back and wait for the notification to awaken your Nokia 8 screen.

Just in case you are still waiting for August patch on any other eligible Nokia model, we are sure the OEM is going to release it sometime soon. Stay tuned, as we’ll update you as soon as that happens. Those interested may head here for more Nokia-related news, update and stuff.
