Nokia restarted their smartphone business under the supervision of HMD Global. By not being to adapt to the Android ecosystem, they were literally thrown out of business. And, HMD chose nothing but Android as their operating system.
AT IFA 2019 in Berlin, the company announced three devices- Nokia 5.2, 6.2 and 7.2. Coming out of the box with Android 9.0 (Pie), Nokia 7.2 packs in Snapdragon 660 SoC under the hood. It offers up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB onboard storage with a dedicated SD card slot.
Let’s keep the new offerings aside and have a look at the old ones. You know the brand is known for timely firmware updates. And, they stuck to their promise ever since the beginning in terms of OTAs.
Talking about OTAs, they have released the September update for five devices- Nokia 5.1 Plus, 6.1 Plus, 7 Plus, and 7.1. We suppose you know what security patches do. They narrow down your chances of being exposed to safety threats and enhances the system stability.
Sometimes OEMs untie software updates with new features, not this time, though! Apart from bumping up the patch to September, these overhauls don’t bring anything new to either of the handsets. The brand already hinted at bringing Android 10 to Nokia 8.1. So, it will have a handful of new attributes soon.
All the packages weigh under 100 MB. Meaning, you will not experience any troubles in downloading them over mobile data. Make sure the phone has sufficient battery juice left before you attempt to updating.
To recall, Nokia 8 Sirocco, 2.2, 9 PureView, 8.1, 4.2, 3.2, 3.1 Plus and 2.1 already received September update. In case you can’t find the name of your device here, that means the company probably didn’t rollout the patch for you. Brace yourself! It’s going to happen pretty soon.
What if you found your device here and didn’t get the OTA notification? Try going to Settings>> About phone>> System updates>> Check for updates. No luck?? Well, wait for a few days. While doing that, you can stay tuned to our Nokia section. Or, you can flash manually using the links given below.
