In the pre-Android years, Nokia ruled the market by not giving room for another company to bloom. However, things didn’t go the way they wished as the time went by. Android has become the favourite of many and eventually, reluctant to collaborate with Google, Nokia had to halt their business.
Fast forward to today, the company is releasing Android phones under HMD Global’s banner. In the second arrival, they have risen to the top for over the air updates. Nonetheless, the M are almost a year late when it comes to the hardware (recently released Nokia 7.2 packs in an outdated Snapdragon 660 chipset).
Then again, there are many people who put timely software updates on top of their priority list. We can give full mark to Nokia in this regard. They even tweeted Android 10 update roadmap for their devices soon after Google announced they’re going to ditch the age-old naming system.
Let us walk you through all the models that received September security patch so far- Nokia 1, 2 (Nougat version), 3 (2017), 5 (2017), 6 (2017), 8, Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 3.1, 5.1, 7.2, Nokia 5.1 Plus, 6.1, 6.1 Plus, 7 Plus, 7.1, 2.1, 3.1 Plus, Nokia 2V, 2.2, Nokia 8 Sirocco, 8.1, 4.2, and 3.2.
In case you are naive, there are two Nokia 2 variants with regard to the software. Back in March this year, the brand has given selected users a chance to upgrade to Android Oreo if they choose. Owing to the power deficient innards inside, even the Finnish vendor confirmed a drop in performance.
So yeah, those who have Android Nougat already received the September patch. And currently circulating is the same for the upgraded Oreo (8.1) units. Apart from bumping up the security measures, it doesn’t bring anything new to the table.
The package weighs 72.9 MB in size. Meaning, you will not have to exhaust a major share of your daily data quota to download it. As with all new firmwares, the OTA will take some time to hit each and every unit due to the batch-wise delivery.
