The camera-centric Nokia 9 PureView has already been upgraded to Android 10, but it is still carrying security patch from November. The owners of Nokia 7.1 experienced the same, when they received the stable Android 10 OTA last week. Seems like a complicated trade-off.

Nokia 8.1, yet another phone with Android 10 but no December patch till date

Interestingly, the OEM did roll out the December patch to a couple of phones, namely Nokia 6.2 as well as Nokia 7.2. I guess the slow start is related to the preparation of Android 10 updates in 2020.

Nevertheless, the latest monthly security update is now available for a bunch of entry-level Nokia phones. Let’s take a look at them one by one.

Nokia 4.2

The Snapdragon 439 powered Nokia 4.2 features some dated techs, such as the age-old microUSB port, but it is undoubtedly a good package running almost stock Android with a dedicated Google Assistant button.

Nokia maintains two different update channels for this phone – one for the European variant and the other one is applicable to the global units. Both of them are now receiving December security patch in the form of software version V1.41F.

Nokia 2.2

The next candidate is crafted on top of MediaTek MT6761 aka Helio A22 SoC. The company included 2/3 GB RAM in Nokia 2.2, thus it runs a full-fledged copy of Android 9 Pie instead of the ‘Go’ flavor.

Nokia did not even include a dedicated fingerprint reader on this phone, so users are limited to face unlock and traditional locking mechanisms. Software updates are frequent though, and the recent most OTA (V1.63C) bundles December patchset.

Nokia 2.1

And finally, the Android Go tagged Nokia 2.1. The phone is fueled by Snapdragon 425 SoC from Qualcomm, but its 1 GB RAM is not enough for running the traditional version of Android Pie.

The phone is scheduled to receive Android 10 update during Q2 of 2020, so enjoy another Pie based security update (V1.13J) with December patch.
