Fixing severe Android vulnerabilities is the task of security patches. Some OEMs are prompt is pushing the latest security updates for their devices while there are others (like LG – pushing May patch in October!) that are just lazy in rolling out such important updates.

But, Nokia, on the other hand, is quite good at this job and it was recently placed in the first position in pushing out the latest security and firmware updates for its devices, according to a report by Counterpoint Research.

Moreover, the company has already made available the Android 10 stable update for Nokia 8.1. Other devices like the Nokia 1 are also scheduled to get the update pretty soon (Q2 2019) while capable devices like Nokia 8 misses out on Android 10.

Talking about updates, Nokia is racing ahead of every other OEM and is rolling out the October security update for Nokia 1 and Nokia 8 smartphones. Let us talk about the update, one by one.

Nokia 1

Reportedly, Nokia 1 is being served with the October 2019 security patch. The new update carries version number V2.180 and weighs in a massive 844.7 MB in size.

We would recommend you to download the update via a stable WiFi or mobile data connection. The update brings in some UI enhancements along with the security patch.

Notably, the update is based on Android 9 Pie and as mentioned before, the scheduled date of Android 10 update rollout for Nokia 1 is Q2 2020.

Nokia 8

Nokia 8 is also receiving the latest October 2019 security update. The update carries version number V5.15G and weighs in a mere 89.8 MB in size and will not be heavy on your mobile data connection.

Moreover, the update brings in some UI enhancements and system stability fixes along with the security patch. Below is the screenshot and the changelog of the update:

Note that both the updates are being pushed via OTA and will take some time in hitting all the units. However, you can always go ahead and check for the updates by heading to Settings > About phone > System updates> Check for update.
