It is always refreshing to get a new update on your smartphone. Such updates bring the assurance that you are running on the very latest piece of software so you are as protected from zero-day exploits as you can be.
These updates also often bring new features and improvements to the system. This means that your device is bound to get new features and added functionality with each new update, at least sometimes.
Various OEMs have been hard at work, to roll out updates to various devices within their catalogs. In this post, we shall look at some of the recent updates to various devices.
First up is the Verizon variant of the LG G8 ThinQ. Verizon is rolling out the February Android security patch update to this device.
This is the sixth system update that Verizon is rolling out to this device. This update brings the software version running on this device to G820UM20b.
This update, apart from bringing the new security patch level, also brings enhancements to conference calling that includes the participant’s City and State.
Also receiving a new security patch update is the Verizon ZTE Blade Vantage 2. This device gets the much newer and most recent march Android security patch update.
This update brings the software version on this device up to Software Version Z3153VV1.0.0B13. This is the second system update to hit this Verizon variant of the ZTE Blade Vantage 2. The changelog indicates that this is basically an update in the Android security patch level.
The next device that is getting an update is the Xiaomi Redmi S2/Y2. This update is getting updated to the latest, March 2020 Android security patch level.
This update is merely a monthly security patch update and the changelog confirms just that.

The Huawei Mate 30 5G is also getting updated. With this update, the version running on this device is bumped up to EMUI 10.0.0.203 (C00E201R6P2patch01). It is unclear which security patch level this patch is based on.
This update is based on Android 10 and brings with it optimizations for the experience of Bluetooth. This is an OTA and as such, will hit some devices ahead of others.
Huawei is also rolling out an update to the Mate 20 Pro. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is beginning to get the January 2020 patch.
This update brings the software version running on the Mate 20 Pro to C185E7R2P4 and is still based on EMUI 10. The update weighs in at a rather small 150 MB and brings little else other than the January security patch update.
The Redmi Note 8 is also getting an update. This is the MIUI 11 Beta Global Stable Version V11.0.7.0.PCOINXM for Redmi Note 8 and it is rolling out via OTA.

Another Xiaomi device, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is getting updated to the February 2020 patch. This update is also an OTA and is being rolled out in phases.
Other devices getting updates include the Realme Link and the Huawei buds.
A new update to the realme Link app has just been released. This update adds Gmail, Snapchat, and Instagram to realme Band’s notification list.
The HUAWEI Free Buds 3 are also receiving a relatively Minor update. The changelog indicates that this update aims to improve the success rate of charging.
