[ASG8 OTA rolling] New Samsung Galaxy S10 update roadmap surfaces, brings more questions than answers

We are at the penultimate week of July, yet the status about this month’s update for Samsung Galaxy S10 is not very clear. As a matter of fact, the June security patch is still not available for the flagship from the Korean OEM on Sprint’s network.

Global Exynos powered unlocked variants of Galaxy S10e/S10/S10+, on the other hand, got the night mode in stock camera app long ago. In fact, they also got the v2 bootloader with last month’s OTA update (ASF3) which made it impossible to downgrade to older builds.

In one of our previous articles, we talked about some allegedly leaked builds which could be the release candidates of the upcoming July update for Galaxy S10. Those builds (ASF4 and ASG1) are still not publicly available, but their trails are quite prominent.

Meanwhile, Samsung published a new update roadmap for Galaxy S10 lineup via their Members app. This is not a new practice, as we witnessed similar notices earlier.

Without further ado, here is the most interesting snippet from the announcement:

Now there are some debatable angles out there. First of all, the ultra-wide lens support to third party apps was rolled out as part of the June update for global models.

Moreover, a virtually identical note was published by Samsung at the beginning of June. In both cases, the prerequisite software version are listed as ‘SE6 or higher’. FYI, SE6/SE7 was the build number of the May update for Galaxy S10.

In the above context, the reappearance of the roadmap should indicate that some of the mentioned changes probably did not make their way to the June update for Galaxy S10. Samsung engineers might include them as a cumulative fix inside this month’s OTA.

It could also be possible that someone just messed up at Samsung’s end and they will publish a new roadmap alongside the July update. Whatever may be the case, PiunikaWeb is monitoring the situation. Stay tuned!

The July update for international Galaxy S10 units is finally available in the form of ASG8 build. Once again, Samsung bundles a new (v3) bootloader, so that downgrading becomes impossible.
