Xiaomi maintains region-based MIUI ROMs for the various smartphones it sells across the globe. For instance, there are MIUI ROMs developed specifically to be used in China while others are meant for use in India.
There is also a special MIUI ROM for the European region although Russia has its own and then there’s another MIUI ROM meant for the rest of the global market.
Although these ROMs mostly have the same features, they also have a few differences here and there. Furthermore, Xiaomi sends out software updates to these ROMs at different intervals, meaning some regions get new updates ahead of others using the same device in another region.
This is what is happening with the latest MIUI 11 updates for the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A. Where the Redmi 8A received its MIUI 11 update in India a while back, this same update is only making its way to the global ROM as I write this.
Arriving as version 11.0.1.0.PCPMIXM and weighs 585MB, the new update brings all the novelties of MIUI 11 but still no room for Android 10. It’s likely this update includes the October security patch, but do let us know in case otherwise. Below is a summary of the changes the update brings.

As noted, the Indian Redmi 8A already picked up its MIUI 11 update and in the latest update the device is receiving in the region, a new November security patch has been included.
The update is rolling out over the air and weighs in at 201MB. The software version is MIUI 11.0.3.0.PCPINXM.
These Redmi 8A updates are rolling out over the air, meaning it may take several days before all units receive the OTA download notification. You can either wait or grab the update via the links provided below for manual installation.

Elsewhere across Europe, the standard Redmi 8 is receiving its MIUI 11 update as version 11.0.1.0.PCNEUXM. This is the first MIUI 11 update for this variant, but folks in India already received this update. Next in line should be the global and Russian models.
The airborne MIUI 11 update is arriving on the European Redmi 8 weighing in at 707MB and keeps the same base OS – Android 9 Pie. For some reason, though, the changelog isn’t fully available, but part of it is reduced system lag and improved system stability.
Rather than wait for the OTA update that could take days, we have the link to download the new firmware and install manually on your Redmi 8, but be sure that you are in the EU region.
