New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

OnePlus literally brought a storm, when they released the August security patch ahead of Google Pixel lineup a few days ago. The Chinese OEM continued their journey by releasing the same patch for the regular OnePlus 7 as well.

The 5G variant, however, seems to be neglected so far, but that’s not the theme of this article.

Changelog of the latest OxygenOS update for OnePlus 7

Even after rapidly expanding their product portfolio, the company promised to serve their older devices. They even backported a number of software based features to OnePlus 5/5T and OnePlus 6/6T lineup during last two months.

Looks like they are keeping their commitments, as both OnePlus 5 and 5T are getting a new stable update in the form of OxygenOS 9.0.8. The phone duos are now running August security patch with a nice little inclusion of Zen Mode.

FYI, OnePlus 5/5T actually got the Zen Mode feature via their final Open Beta update back in June. However, the stable OTA actually bundles a new version of the Zen Mode app which was teased by us long ago. The official announcement from OnePlus’ Manu J. should make it clear.

We are starting to push the incremental rollout of OxygenOS 9.0.8 for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.

Noticed something different? Yes, they are talking about the v1.3 of Zen Mode, which supports custom time duration settings. OnePlus 7 Pro got it first via the Developer Preview 4 build of Android Q.

OnePlus entirely skipped the July security patch, and bumped the phones straight from June to August. The extent of QualPwn vulnerabilities might be the reason behind this update spree.

In fact, OnePlus 6 series is also getting a new set of Open Beta update with an identical changelog. The phone duo got experimental DC Dimming in their last Open Beta build(s), while they are getting the most up-to-date security patch via OB24 (OnePlus 6) and OB16 (OnePlus 6T) respectively.
