It seems like Lenovo has finally decided to change Motorola’s fate. They officially announced the August security patch for G7 Power a day before. Going by the user confirmations popping up on different online discussion platforms, we deduce that the company is on a roll with OTA updates.
A few hours ago, a user posted a screenshot of their Moto Z3 Play, receiving the security patch dated July. Though it doesn’t bring anything new to the table, we are glad to see Motorola started reminiscing its glorified past.
In case you don’t remember, Z3 Play is a year old model with Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 inside. The display measures 6.01-inch in size and 1080x 2060 in resolution. The Super AMOLED screen has Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Launched with Oreo, Moto Z3 received its fair share of Pie already.
As for the July update, the changelog reads:
Moto Z3 Play has been updated to the version
PPWS29.183-29-1-2 correctly
Highlights of this update include:
Android security updates up to 1 July 2019
That’s not all. We could also spot a few users confirming the arrival of July security patch for Moto X4. See? You now know why we think the OEM is on a roll in terms of firmware updates, though they’re still not the latest ones?.
None of the users asserted the package brought anything new to the phone. Those who updated didn’t face any aftereffects, though. The update also nudged the Moto X4 Vodafone users based out of the UK. However, quite a few couldn’t get the availability notification and live with March patch.
For refreshers, Moto X4 features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD full HD+ display. Can you believe it? Moto X4 received two major Android updates. Yeah, it’s an Android One device. Still, it’s Motorola! Under the hood, the phone carries a Snapdragon 630 SoC coupled with Adreno 508 GPU. There are multiple RAM and storage options to choose from.
Getting back to the update, the version number for the new one is PPWS29.69-37-4. Device users are reportedly getting the notification in RETEU developer channel. Just for reminder, Motorola has three different regionally tuned versions- RETEU, RETDE, and RETGB.
So far, we couldn’t pull out a screenshot of the update changelog on Moto X4. Once we get our hands on it, we will update this article. No, you don’t have to bury yourself in desperation. The OTA updates usually go live in clusters. So, a bit of patience will do the magic.
