Motorola – once a huge name in the smartphone industry – is trying hard to make its presence felt in the market. After being taken-over by Lenovo, Motorola’s smartphone market has seen some decline.
There’s a a fierce competition between other OEMs like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and even Samsung to grab the mid-range segment of the smartphone industry. However, this is a place where Motorola has failed to grab the opportunity.
It won’t be wrong saying the Chinese OEMs have taken over the budget segment and even the mid-range segment, that once used to be a strong market for the Motorola devices. Blame it on their lack of innovation or development, the OEM is seriously lagging behind.
However, if you are the owner of the Motorola Moto G6 smartphone, and are located in the U.S. then, this post will excite you as the company has officially rolled put the August Security update 2019 (sadly not the latest one though) for the device in the U.S. region.
The new update that brings in the August 2019 security update carries the version number PPS29.118-15-11. Below is the official changelog of the update that is rolled out for the Moto G6:
Highlights of this update include:
• Android security updates through 1 August 2019
• Stability improvements
You can check out the August Security Bulletin for the year 2019 by clicking here, where you will get comprehensive detail about Google-related changes in the August security patch along with features and improvements it brings to the device.
As we’ve highlighted before, the August security update was recently rolled out for the Motorola Moto G6 Brazil variants. However, there were no any added features apart from the security update, and same is the case with the patch that’s now out for the U.S. retail models.
Motorola is not known for speedy delivery of the updates, be it security or firmware updates. And we could see from the fact that we are in September and the security patch update is of August. But, it is ok to have something than nothing.
The update will be rolled out to the Motorola Moto G6 devices in the U.S. and will eventually reach all the devices. Note that the updates are rolled out in batches so, it would take some time to reach your device or region.
You can always go ahead and check manually, whether the update has arrived on your device or not by going to Settings>> System Update>> Update Motorola Software. Otherwise you can wait for the OTA to hit your device. Happy installing!
