Xiaomi has rigorously disrupted the traditional pricing pattern of smartphones. By offering the highest specs to price ratio ever, they have forced other OEMs to join the same bandwagon for the survival.
The company kick-started their journey with the first smartphone back in 2011. Over the years, they’ve expanded to various markets in the world. As for the latest figures, in the second quarter of 2019, the Chinese manufacturer owned 9.7% of the global market share according to a Statista report.
You know Xiaomi phones (except their A series) run on their custom firmware named MIUI. The OEM has heavily skinned it. And, they regularly update the same to untie new features. And as you may know, they’re expected to rollout MIUI 11 next month.
While we are a few days away from MIUI 11’s release, the OEM has pushed an MIUI update (v10.2.30.0) for Xiaomi Mi 9. Launched in February 2019, the device packs in flagship specifications including Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset.
There are multiple variants available, differing in RAM and storage. The phone comes with Android 9.0 based MIUI 10 out of the box. After the release, they have been delivering security patches (might not be on time) to the device, and the newest one bumps the firmware to 10.2.30.0.
A Reddit user has confirmed the update brings August security patch. Moreover, the package also includes fingerprint sensor enhancements. Unfortunately, we couldn’t grab a screenshot of the changelog. We managed to get a list of improvements though.
Changelog:
System– Optimization: Reduce noise at low volume for earphone and speakers.
– Updated Android Security Patch to August 2019. Increased system security.
Lockscreen, status bar, Notification shade.
– Optimization: In-screen fingerprint scanner’s response.
– Fix: Fingerprint icon didn’t always appear on the Lock screen.
Another user commented that the update brings with it the DC Dimming feature. In case you are naive, this attribute controls the power delivered to the display to attain desired brightness levels as opposed to the traditional way of flashing the screen on and off.
Keep in mind, as of now, the update is circulating to the Europe region devices only. Your efforts may go fruitless if you try to check for software updates from any other region. Going by the nature of OTA updates, it’s just the matter of a few days before the wide release happens.

What if you don’t want to wait or perform a manual flash? Well, there’s a small trick. Go to Settings>> search for Region>> open Region- Additional settings/Region>> choose a European country (preferably the UK). There you go!
Chances are you will now get the update notification. Outta luck even with the trick? Then, you need to keep your composure until the notification pokes your device. While doing that, don’t forget to stay tuned to our Xiaomi section.
