New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on December 17, 2019) follows:
During the last few months, Xiaomi upgraded a bunch of phones to MIUI 11 – the latest version of their in-house Android skin. We still don’t know the situation about the tablets, but some Mi and Redmi branded phones already got stable Android 10 builds as part of the rollout process.
Other than the stable updates, Xiaomi is also testing Android 10 on multiple phones via closed beta channel. Popular mid-range phones like Redmi Note 8 Pro is a part of that clan, while legacy devices such as Mi Max 3 and Mi 8 Lite secured their postitions as well.
The Android 10 update status of the ever-popular (should I say controversial?) Poco F1 is still mystified, but we do know that the company is working on it. Interestingly, Mi 8 and Mi MIX 2S share the same kernel source as Pocophone F1 and the former duo received Android 10 back in October in beta form.
However, the stable MIUI 11 update for these phones are based on Android Pie till date. The situation is changing though, as Mi 8 has picked up Android 10 with November security patch in the recent most stable update in China.
At the time of writing this article, the OTA (V11.0.5.0) is available to a very small number of people. In case you are running the global variant of the phone or have unlocked bootloader, you can try out the correposning xiaomi.eu build from here.

Another phone is also receiving a long-anticipated update, but it is not Android 10 we are talking about. PiunikaWeb readers should remember that Redmi 7A was one of the early receipients of the MIUI 11 stable update, but Indian units were left behind.
No need to worry though, as the OTA is finally rolling out as software version V11.0.1.0. The underlying Android layer is Pie, but the phone now features November security patches.
