For as long as I have been into mobile tech, I have known one thing to be true. Every new Motorola device review will have a mention of the ‘Chop-chop’ gesture for Flashlight-feature.

That has come to be Motorola’s signature feature. But most modern smartphones spot the same hardware sensors (maybe even more), and probably even faster and more capable internals. So why haven’t others implemented similar features in their smartphones?

Well, thanks to a new jailbreak tweak called Shake2Toggle, iPhone users with jailbroken devices can get the same level of functionality on their devices and a ton of customization to go with it. It does so by letting you control your device by shaking it. It uses your device’s shake detection for far more things.

Shake2Toggle allows users to decide what they want the device to do when it detects it is being shaken. The developer has built-in a couple of functions that can be triggered by the action. Some of these functions that can be initiated include;

-Shake to Shuffle ;

-Shake to Repeat;

-Shake to Like Songs;

-Shake to Skip to the Next Song/Video;

-Shake to Open an Application;

-Shake to Toggle Dark Mode on/off (iOS 13 only);

-Shake to Toggle Night Shift on/off;

-Shake to Toggle Flashlight on/off;

-Shake to Lock Device;

-Shake to Take a Screenshot;

-Shake to Toggle Portrait Mode on/off;

-Shake to Toggle Low Power Mode on/off;

-Shake to Toggle Do Not Disturb on/off;

-Shake to Toggle Flashlight on/off;

-Shake to Respring (Option from the Power Menu alert that will pop-up to avoid unhappy accidents);

-Shake to Enter Safemode (Option from the Power Menu alert that will pop-up to avoid unhappy accidents);

-Shake to Run UICache (Option from the Power Menu alert that will pop-up to avoid unhappy accidents);

-Shake to Reboot (Option from the Power Menu alert that will pop-up to avoid unhappy accidents);

-Shake to Shutdown (Option from the Power Menu alert that will pop-up to avoid unhappy accidents).

The developer also baken within the tweak, a detailed explanation for each function so you know exactly what your device will do when you choose what you want it to do. This way you can better understand what each option does.

Perhaps one of the most exciting features for me is the incorporation of the ability to respring your device with the shake function. When you need to reboot your device, simply toggle your desired option on/off and no need to worry about anything else.

In the release notes, the developer adds that the “Shake2Toggle tweak works by detecting any shakes. However, you can easily only give your device a good twist with your wrist and it’ll detect it as a shake too. This means that there’s really no need to shake your device into oblivion, an easy shake will do it.”
