When it comes to battle royale games, both Fortnite and PUBG have made their mark worldwide. ‘Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds’ reigns in the Asian region, while Fortnite is more prevalent in the North American region of the world.
According to the website ‘Mspoweruser’, PUBG has reached 50 million active daily players in June 2019. PUBG has also become a nationwide phenomenon in India, and many parents and activists feel that PUBG is an addiction and corrupting young minds. Amid these criticisms, PUBG is doing pretty well among Indian fans.
Millions of players enjoy PUBG each day, but some mischievous players try to hack the game by using third party apps which affects the gaming experience of other players. PUBG Corporation has taken many stringent steps to crack down on these hackers in the past.
In July 2019, Dohyung Lee, head of PUBG’s anti-cheat unit, also explained the steps they regularly take to curb down these hackers and cheaters. He said that PUBG’s Anti-Cheat unit works round the clock and identifies any suspicious player or activity by analyzing reports and using internal systems.
When their team finds anything suspicious or shady, they look for related logs to identify the tool or device that has been used for hacking or cheating purposes. Then their ‘Analysis and Engineering team investigates the hacking tool further and prepares its countermeasures.
Hardware or permanent bans are also implemented against suspicious accounts or players if required. To counter similar threats in the future, their engineering team creates a code that keeps hackers at bay. But cheaters or hackers always keep inventing new ways to crack the code, in this game of cat and mouse.
Today, PUBG Corporation has sent another ban wave to mobile users who were using illicit or third-party programs to gain an unethical advantage in the game. They have released a PUBG Mobile Fair Play and Ban Notice in their official tweet which reveals all the banned accounts which have been found cheating from August 20 to August 26. The official ban notice can be read below.
Dear PUBG MOBILE players,
We have always strived to deliver a gaming environment that is fair and enjoyable for each and every player and prevent cheating. We take this issue very seriously; as such, each account in violation has received a 10-year ban. We would like to remind all players about the importance of fair play, and thank you for keeping PUBG MOBILE fair and fun.
If you suspect that a player is cheating or using an unauthorized 3rd party app to dishonestly assist their game play in a match, please use the in-game reporting system to notify us. We investigate all such reports thoroughly and you will be informed of the findings.
We will continue to enforce stringent discipline against cheaters and publish the IDs of confirmed cheaters. Thank you for helping us make PUBG MOBILE a better game.
