Official LineageOS 17.1 (Android 10) coming soon to OnePlus 7 Pro/6/6T, LG V20/G5, Mi MIX 2S, & Xperia XA2/Ultra

LineageOS is arguably the most popular custom ROMs known to any Android user who is a fan of tinkering and modding.

What makes LineageOS such a popular custom ROM is that it takes AOSP and adds a few useful tweaks that actually matter to end-users unlike the MIUIs, EMUIs, and ColorOSs of this world. Think of OxygenOS, only that it’s not limited to OnePlus devices.

Since the team that runs the LineageOS show is small and mainly relies on donations from fans, it usually takes time to prepare working software updates for all devices out there. Case in point is the latest LineageOS 17 based on Android 10.

As of this writing, the official version of LineageOS 17 hasn’t hit the ground. But from the look of things, it may arrive as LineageOS 17.1 when it hits the stable channel.

The LineageOS Gerrit is already listing the initial devices that will be supported on LineageOS 17.1 when it arrives. As usual, there is a bunch of OnePlus devices in there while LG, Xiaomi, and Sony are also represented, as seen below.

Several devices already have access to the unofficial LineageOS 17.1 updates. While you can still download and install the unofficial versions on various devices, you’d rather wait for the official version to arrive.

One reason you should wait is guaranteed OTA software updates on a daily basis. This isn’t available on unofficial versions, so better watch out. Also, you can rest assured that annoying bugs will be addressed on the official version, which is contrary to the unofficial versions.
