With every passing day, we’re nearing the official release of the latest Android OS dessert, Android Q. But queries from device users that haven’t yet got to taste the last year’s Pie continue to pile up.

Take for example South Korean phone manufacturer LG. Among the compatible devices, the OEM released Android Pie for LG G7 ThinQ in their home country in the beginning of this year. Following that carriers like Verizon, Metro PCS, US Cellular & T-Mobile (recently) pushed the update.

Couple of days after T-Mobile, the carrier locked as well as the unlocked variants of LG G7 ThinQ in the UK region were also bumped to Android 9. Among the carriers, UK-based networks like O2 and EE released Pie (V20b-EUR-XX) along with the May security patch.

But what about device users in India? Why are they left gawking? How long will they have to wait to experience Pie? That’s not us, but that’s what LG G7 ThinQ (more popularly called LG G7) users from India can be seen inquiring across social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter.

Here a selection of some of the recent queries for you to take a quick look at:

We do understand update releases vary depending on the carrier as well as the regions. But six months? Well that’s quite long for users of a region to wait when the patch has been out for the same phone in other regions. So the frustration of LG G7 users from India is understandable.

While we couldn’t find anything in particular coming from LG India all this while, now they have broken their silence and spoken on the matter. However, their response just adds more hope and indirectly asks users to keep patience.

Here’s what LG India said on Twitter (through their official handle) while responding to one such inquirer:

We are planning to launch the update soon.

Here’s hoping this “soon” comes really soon, so that LG G7 users in India get to experience Pie before users around the globe start talking about how Android Q is acting on their units. Rest assured, we’re keeping a tab and will let you know as and when the update gets live.

Update 1 (July 22)

Pie update is not rolling out to LG G7 ThinQ (model G710EM brand TIM) devices in Italy region.

NOTE: Recently, Android Pie beta builds for LG V30 ThinQ and LG G6 were leaked. That conveys the stable Pie release for both LG V30 ThinQ and LG G6 devices should be near. Those of you interested in reading more about LG-related updates, news, bugs/issues, may head here.
