New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Although LG made a solid mark while designing the Nexus phones along with Google, their own flagships failed to receive the same level of recognition. The Korean OEM packs state of the art DACs in their G and V series phones, even experimented with secondary screen and modular design. Guess the clumsy software is the main roadblock.

Talking about software, LG is known of atrociously delayed updates. For example, the Verizon branded LG V30 received stable Android Pie update less than two weeks ago. They also maintain multiple regional firmware builds, so a particular update might be limited to a single region for a while.

Well, they do invest time to push the newest version of Android (that’s Pie in LG’s definition) for their phones – we seen such proofs for LG V20. LG G6, which was released a couple of months after V20, actually got a beta build of Pie in South Korea.

Ahoy LG G6 owners! The final stable build of Android Pie is here, courtesy to Verizon. The big red US wireless carrier is now pushing the long-anticipated software update in the form of a gigantic ~2.2 GB OTA.

Tagged as System Update 14, Verizon also delivers August security patches with this update (build number VS98830a). The changelog is (un)surprisingly long, as LG G6 users now have the ability to perform gestures on Home touch buttons, access to lockdown options, new Game Launcher and plenty of other goodies.

The European variant of LG G6 (H870) is also getting the stable Pie update via LG Bridge. The version number is same as the Verizon one – 30a.

PiunikaWeb readers should remember about the 29a build of Android Pie, which got leaked back in July. Apparently LG incorporated some inline fixes and integrated the August patch with the next iteration (30a).

Update 1 (October 22)

Android 9 Pie firmware update is finally knocking doors on the LG G6 U.K. and Austrian variants. However, it is about to get delayed for Canadian users. Details here.

Update 2 (October 24)

LG has finally started to push the long-anticipated Android Pie update for LG G6 in Canada. The AT&T branded variant is receiving the same as well. See here for further info.
