Lenovo recently ranked second behind HMD Global/Nokia in terms of rolling out monthly security updates to its devices in a Counterpoint Research, however, the Chinese vendor still lags on matters of major OS upgrades.
A while back, Counterpoint Research ranked Android vendors in terms of rolling out major OS upgrades and this time Lenovo emerged fifth among the top ten leading device makers in the world with only 43% of its devices running Android Pie at the time of the findings.
Today, the company has yet to update any of its devices to the new Android 10 stable. Not even the Android One Motorola devices that are also expected to pick up the new OS at some point.
On the brighter side, the company has just announced that owners of the Lenovo Z6 Pro can now try a new skin that brings Android 10 beta to the device. Arriving as ZUI 11.5.120, the new skin is available for internal testing.
So far, the Lenovo Z6 Pro Android 10 beta testing program is limited to model L78051 in China. FYI, this isn’t the first ZUI 11.5 beta hitting the Z6 Pro in China. The first arrived on October 31 while the latest arrival is the fourth installment, up from v11.5.110 released earlier this month.
In the middle of all the excitement around the arrival of Lenovo Z6 Pro Android 10 update via the beta channel, the company has also introduced its own version of Samsung DeX-like functionality that it calls Lenovo One.
Last week, Lenovo’s Edward Chang teased the arrival of Lenovo One on Weibo and now the feature is here as part of the ZUI 11.5.120 beta update. With this feature, Lenovo wants you to easily bring your mobile workspace to a Windows PC near you.
It is said the Lenovo One system will connect your Lenovo smartphone to a Windows PC via fast Bluetooth, allowing the high-speed exchange of data between the two seamlessly, but we should find out more in the company’s upcoming tech conference.
You can check out this short demo video of how the new Lenovo One feature works as posted on Weibo by Chang.
