Maintaining a rich software based ecosystem is the next big step for the phone makers. In China, Xiaomi achieved it in a very successful way: a single Mi account can be used to sync your personal data, store files in cloud, remotely track your phone or even control your router!

Replicating the Apple like model in Android world is tough, but not impossible. Mainstream OEMs like Samsung or Huawei as their own app store besides Google. In some cases, they allow you to sync notifications or share the screen with your PC.

Realme, the new offspring of China’s OPPO, is trying to reuse the same strategy for creating a parallel ecosystem. Realme phones are currently using OPPO’s ColorOS, but the company is reportedly planning to switch from it.

In the recent wave of ColorOS 6.0 OTA updates, the Chinese OEM bundles a dedicated app store, theme store and game center in certain regions. The arrival of these apps has been speculated for a while, and the changelogs finally confirmed it.

Applications
· Added realme Theme Store
· Added realme App Market (certain regions)
· Added realme Game Center (certain regions)
· Added realme Community (certain regions)

Looks like Realme is looking forward to further expand their involvements in gaming, as Indian Realme users are allegedly asked to participate in a survey related to online mobile gaming.

According to a Realme 2 Pro user, he has got the popup from the Theme store, which is part of the recently released ColorOS 6.0 update. The survey is hosted on WJX China, which ensures it’s Chinese origin.

This questionnaire is launched by the game operation team, and your answer is crucial for improving our future game online service, please answer in accordance with your actual conditions.

The highlighted portion is particularly interesting. Is Realme planning to collaborate with some popular online gaming franchise? Or are they trying to come up with their own game title?

The questionnaire is specifically targeted towards feedback gathering about beta testing an online game. The volunteers need to answer questions related to pre-registration, beta testing experience etc.

After finishing the survey, users will receive a token of appreciation (like the one shown here is about free tutorial hours on a Chinese site).

At this moment, the prompt about the survey is completely random. We are not sure whether Realme is targeting solely their Indian customers or users from other countries are getting similar surveys about regional gaming.
