EMUI, as you may know, is Huawei’s Android skin and EMUI 9.0 is their Android 9.0 Pie based OS that was announced last year at IFA in Berlin. It is now available on quite a few Huawei and Honor devices such as Huawei P20/P20 Pro, P10, Mate 10/10 Pro, Honor 10, View 10 and 8X/8X Pro.

However, many of their phones still await Android 9.0 Pie or EMUI 9’s arrival, including Huawei Y9 (2019) and Huawei P20 Lite. Owners of other Huawei devices of course are curious to know when will they get to taste the long-awaited Pie.

But now we have at hand the latest information about when will EMUI 9.0 be finally landing on two of the Huawei mid-ranger phones, Y9 (2019) and P20 Lite.

Huawei Y9 (2019) (also known as Huawei 9 Plus in China) comes baked with a Hisilicon Kirin 710 chipset, Android Oreo 8.1 and EMUI 8.2. Huawei P20 Lite (aka Huawei Nova 3e for China), on the other hand is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 and comes with Android 8.0, EMUI 8 out of the box.

Unlike its name, the budget Android smartphone Y9 (2019) was actually released in 2018, and was due to receive EMUI 9.0 beta in March this year. And that happened right in time, as can be seen in Huawei’s following Facebook post:

Forget beta, as now it has come to our sight that Huawei Y9 will be getting EMUI 9.0/Android Pie in the coming month, that is May. The information came from Huawei India while reverting back to one of the inquirers on Twitter.

we expect to release the final version of EMUI 9.0/Android Pie in batches tentatively by mid of May’19.

That means, the wait will be over soon and Huawei Y9 (2019) users will finally get to taste the Pie in few more weeks.

That’s not all.

Another Huawei phone for which users have been eager to receive EMUI 9.0 is Huawei P20 Lite. While the other devices from P20 series, P20 and P20 Pro were bumped to EMUI 9.0 based on Pie back in December last year, their lighter kin P20 Lite users were left longing.
